(short disclaimer - all of these pictures were found on Google images, I don't claim any of them)
1. Wake up at a decent time!
If you're out of work and school, it will be tempting to sleep in (I may or may not be guilty of this), but if you wake up at a decent time, you are bound to feel a lot better! Sleeping in too much causes grogginess which in turn brings out that grinch in you. Get enough sleep, but not too much.
2. Start each day with a thankful heart
Tell God good morning! Thank Him for the day and for the season, and for anything and everything you are thankful for.
3. Spend time with your best Friend
God comes first! Don't neglect your time with Him!
4. Go out of your way to minister
Whoever you are with this season, minister to them! Clean something up or write them an encouraging note. I'm sure you can find some way to be selfless and show them that you love them.
|I only chose this picture because my Mom works at Mercy. Fun fact!|
5. Blast the Christmas music
Unless you're my Dad, you only listen to it once a year. Play it loud! Or quietly if people are sleeping.
The Bible says to make a joyful noise, not a tuneful noise. There is a big difference.
Continually. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Visual reminders will help you to remember what we are celebrating. Don't forget about Christ among all those lights and glitter.
9. Bake cookies
Just do it. Christmas is always better with cookies.
10. Stay off your phone
Or your computer. Or your video games. Or whatever you like to do that keeps you away from your family and friends and tends to put you in a bad mood.
11. Give someone a hug
Like your mom or dad, brother or sister, husband or wife.
12. Go Christmas shopping
Bring your brother along, that's what I'm doing! Buy presents for other people and don't even think once about what you would like for yourself.
13. Make homemade presents
Don't do something tacky, but make something that is meaningful and special to that person.
14. DIY Crafts
What season is better for a DIY than Christmas?
15. Organize your fridge
This will help make more room for all those cookies.
16. Wear a Christmas hat
The more bells the better.
17. Hand write some Christmas letters
Don't buy a card. Write them out by hand, it means so much more.
18. Clean your room
It will refresh you to be able to spend time in a clean environment during a busy time.
19. Take a warm shower or bath
And sing. No one is listening.
20. Light a fire
Only if you have a fireplace, or you can light some candles! There's just something about the glow that warms the heart.
21. Watch your favorite Christmas movie
If you are a movie watcher, bring the whole family together to watch a movie with you.
22. Read your favorite Christmas story
Mine is Luke 2. What's yours?
23. Keep a Christmas journal
Every day before and after Christmas for a couple weeks write what you are thankful for and what you would do next year differently.
24. Host a Christmas party
Just saying, ladies Christmas luncheons are the best.
25. Drink tea
Or coffee. Use a fancy Christmas mug. I have a cute little penguin mug that a girl from school gave to me as a gift and I love it.
26. Make a snowman
Unless you are in a place where it doesn't snow. Then you can make a dirt-man or a mud-man. Or you can make one inside out of styrofoam and decorate with it!
27. Dress in red or green
Or both. After all, 'Tis the season!
28. Wear a cozy sweater
29. Take fun pictures
Pretend you are an amazing photographer. Experiment with angles and subjects you've never tried before.
30. Write a special blog post!
Of course, this applies if you are a blogger. Don't neglect the Christmas season on your blog!
31. Wrap presents
I love to do this and it is never Christmas until I have wrapped a present or two!
32. Eat meals as a family
With whoever you have with you, even if it is just your pet. Eat together!
33. Go to church
Spend time with other believers, even if you are on vacation.
34. Drink some hot chocolate
I like to put candy canes in mine.
35. Remember all that God has done for you
He is the reason for the season, and don't you ever forget that.
Thanks for reading, I hope that you enjoyed this! It is a little bit more on the silly and fun side, but sometimes we all need a little lightening up ever once in a while. Merry Christmas!
