Describe Him: Forgiving, Gracious, and Holy

I've had very little time to keep up with this series, so I have to catch up by doing three posts each day. Sorry for not keeping up....

How true of our Lord. Without Him, there's no hope. By dying on the cross, He offers us forgiveness from the heavy burdens of sin that we otherwise had no way of resolving.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.
                                                                                                                                -Ephesians 2:8-9

Do you actually KNOW what Holy means? Do you understand the meaning of the word? As I was writing, I realized that I didn't fully understand what it meant to be holy.
This is what the dictionary defines it as:

1. specially recognized as or declared sacred by religious use or authority; consecrated: holy ground.
2. dedicated or devoted to the service of God, the church, or religion: a holy man.
3. saintly; godly; pious; devout: a holy life.
4. having a spiritually pure quality: a holy love.
5. entitled to worship or veneration as or as if sacred: a holy relic.
Were you surprised, or did you already know this? Maybe you were expecting more, or maybe even less? Perhaps we all need to study God's personality more and truly understand what we say about Him.
God Bless!
